Meanwhile in Ecuador (video)

Meanwhile in Ecuador.
We are following the Trans Ecuador Mountain Bike Route (TEMBR). A famous dirt road traverse through the highlands of Ecuador.
Contrasting our start in Ecuador, this route is incredibly rural. We cycle through many remote villages. Some consisting of nothing more than a few houses and some cattle. Others having a school, hospital, vibrant markets and rich agricultural lands. It is a wonderful experience.
The TEMBR is notorious for its steep climbs and variable weather conditions. Both of which we can confirm. A lot of pushing in the clouds, with only occasionally a peek of the landscapes. A big effort with little views in return. But it is not the most important. It is passing through the little villages and communities, getting away from the busy Panamericana to experience life in the backcountry of Ecuador, that make it all worth it.
After two strenuous cycling days, we mixed it up with a beautiful hike along the edge of a water-filled dormant volcano crater. What more can we ask for. Ecuador is magnificent!
