Bogotá - El Final Del Viaje

August 15, 2024

We made it! We arrived at our final destination. Safe and sound. After nearly 15.000 kilometers, our journey has come to an end. No more planning ahead. No more routes to explore. No more scouting for places to sleep. No more simply eating, sleeping, and cycling. It is hard to fathom what has transpired over the past thirteen months. But when we rewind the records of our senses behind closed eyes, we feel immensely proud. Proud of the way we completed our first bike trip ever—a year-long cycling journey through South America. A wild and ambitious plan, in a once unknown and scary corner of the world, now has become a reality. A place on the map we can dream of, and where we've left a trail of our memories.

Though it was the Andes we set out to explore, traveling on two wheels allowed us to see so much more. It is continent of communities we've experienced above all else. Where helping each other is the norm, and where kindness, big smiles, and laughter prevail. A place where people work together to make life work, and where children play, on every street. There is music, dance, and amazing food that brings joy to everyday lives, and an abundance of animals that roam the lands and the skies.

The Andes, in all their diversity, are imprinted on our hearts and souls. They've been a heaven to ride through, yet sometimes a pain. The stage for buckets of sweat plus a handful of tears. And the grand decor for the toughest and most beautiful adventure of our lives. An experience of freedom like never before. One we will cherish forever. We did it, together. Thank you, South America. Adios.
