Dreams coming true
October 6, 2023
We made it to Bolivia!
From the largest lake in SA, to the roughest road crossing the border, to long sessions on our bikes leading to a hectic but amazing entry into the crazy city La Paz - followed by another three days in bed battling illness - to dreams finally coming true at great heights; yes, now the famous Huayna Potosi* which peaks at 6088 masl also includes our footsteps!
While flying over the seemingly infinite number of structures and people of La Paz in the funny cable car system, we recovered from our climb with a big smile on our faces. First chapter Bolivia, success!
*Huayna Potosi, an easily accessible 6000m peak close to the city of La Paz. Within 2 days the summit can be reached, but the climb by itself is by no means easy. Little sleep climbing through the night, crossing glaciers and balancing narrow ice bridges over deep crevasses, scavenging across exposed rock beds, high altitude fixed rope climbing, steep icy ascents, and a majestic view at the end to top it all... We loved it. Grateful this climb worked out for us :D
Route: Moho (PER) - Puerto Acosta (BOL) - Ancoraimes - Batallas - La Paz
